Team Steven Hirshman is fundraising for The Brookwood Community
Friends, Steven has been working at The Brookwood Community
for 12 years, he has participated working in the Horticulture area, ceramics,
cement and at the Café while there. Each one has been a great experience for
him learning new skills and meeting new friends. Steven is very proud of what
he does and loves to talk about the different areas of work. Since starting at
Brookwood Steven has grown in confidence and is more comfortable in
interactions with friends, family and meeting new people. The program allows
people with intellectual and physical disabilities to work and lead productive
lives that add to the community and their self-worth. The Brookwood Community
is funded through donations and fund raising, it is a non-profit residential
community and does not accept any government funding. Private fund raising is
important, so we are asking for your support for special needs adults who are
known as Citizens at Brookwood, all contributions are tax deductible. Due to
the current Covid virus the Brookwood major fund raisers, the annual Golf
Benefit, has been cancelled but we still need to raise funds to help Brookwood
in these times of need. The programs have been on hold with minimal staff and
citizens working on the campus, Steven has been working on projects for
Brookwood from home. Steven and I will still be participating in the Benefit
this year. We ask that you help support The Brookwood Community with a donation
in support of the Citizens of the community and the 200 plus Citizens who count
on Brookwood as their place to work and live.
